During the Civil Rights Movement, there were many terrible events that occurred. Many of these terrible events had to deal with the murders of many very important activists that were helping the Civil Rights Movement gain traction. These terrible events include the murder and lynching of Medgar Evers, the death of a great American activist named Fred Hampton, the death of Harry and his wife Harriette Moore due to the bombing of their house by some members of the Ku Klux Klan, the assassination of Human Rights Activist Malcolm X, and the horrible assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., one of the most important leaders during the Civil Rights Movement.
Many of these deaths took a huge toll on the Civil Rights Movement. The death of Medgar Evers was a very gruesome murder. Medgar Evers was said to have been "flirting" with a white woman, and because of this, some white men decided to murder him. His mother decided to have an open-casket funeral to show what the men had done to Medgar, and this frightened quite a few people.
A very popular white activist groups called the Ku Klux Klan killed lots of blacks during the Civil Rights Movement. One of those killings we Harry and Harriette Moore. The deaths of these two were very significant since they were members of the NAACP. The Moore's were called the first martyr of the Civil Rights Movement.
During this time, many terrible things happened, but also, a lot of great events occurred. Martin Luther King Jr. had an enormous impact on the Movement before he was murdered, and people still this day remember him as the man that led this great movement.
