What does the Supreme Court do? Well, for a quick answer, they fix problems that arise in the United States; but there is much more to it than that. There is a very organized and specific system that they must follow in order to fix problems.

When a problem arises, the Supreme Court can work on a solution. The Supreme Court hears cases in public, and Lawyers on the side of each case are allowed 30 minutes to make their arguments before nine of the nations highest officials. During this hour of oral argument, this is when the most drama occurs. While one lawyer is speaking to the court, they must be able to juggle several different trains of thought since there are nine officials listening and questioning the lawyer. This seems very strenuous and taxing to do for 30 minutes. Also, lawyers must be prepared for their 30 minutes to use their full 30 minutes to get their full point across. They must have a strong beginning and ending statement, and all the answers the officials ask.

You may be wondering, what can the Supreme Court focus on to fix in our Nation? Well, The Supreme Court cannot just try to change anything they would like, like the President can. They have to wait for problems to arise in the country before they can start working on a change. I thought this was very interesting and also smart because this means that the Supreme Court will only be working on the most important topics in our country instead of topics that are not a significant.

The Supreme Court has a very important job because without a system that will work out major problems in our country, problems that arise will not be fixed in an organized and fast manor. We need the Supreme Court, and without it, our country would be much different than it is today.
